Acne Facts Unknown To Most People

Acne can cause many self-esteem issues in life that are experienced by young and old. Although it can be taken care of successfully with some over-the-counter products, sometimes people seek the advice of a dermatologist. People that have acne can often feel depressed or embarrassed because of their condition and the way they look. While treatment methods have improved a great deal over the decades, the acne sufferer has to endure the social stigma often attached to the condition. If you are a parent, you should understand that this situation can have detrimental emotional effects. Although the scarring on your face and body can be severe, it typically has a more negative effect on someone's self-image. This article will discuss facts you may not know about acne to help you out.

There is also a good reason behind the warning not to squeeze your pimples. Are you one of those people who are constantly picking at your pimples? If so, the odds that you will end up with scarring are increased. Obviously a scar implies the presence of damage to the skin. When you squeeze your blemish, squeeze very lightly and not hard enough to make it bleed. You're just asking for scarred skin and large pores if you squeeze aggressively. If you have a pimple that is close to the surface of your skin, it's OK to squeeze it if you apply gentle pressure. Before you squeeze, you'll want to cleanse the area with a cloth that has been dipped in warm water. Don't use hot water. This will not only cleanse the area, but will soften the blemish to make squeezing easier. Then, with a very delicate touch, you can attempt to squeeze the blemish. Do not attempt to "get everything" because that is when you can cause damage.

The majority of people are overwhelmed when they learn about the sheer number of acne types that can appear. Most people that have this skin condition get it for a variety of different reasons. There are many different varieties of acne that people can contract. Rosacea, for instance, is definitely a form of acne, but it does not come with whiteheads, blackheads, or comedones. Organic in its formation, acne can also form through chemical exposure on many people. This acne is called, Choracne, and there is an association with the halogenated organic compounds.

Treating acne is not an exact science due to the fact that there are so many potential causes for acne as well as misconceptions as to its origin. One thing that is certain is that there is a genetic component to its appearance. Some family members may develop acne, but this does not mean that genetics is the primary cause. Genetics may not be the answer to why a person has acne; in fact, some people may get it from doing a variety of other things. If your family is susceptible to getting acne because of their genetics, most of the family will actually have the skin condition.

If you have acne, obviously it is not very easy to determine what is causing it or how to cure it. The exact situation for the acne sufferer must be known in order to make the best plan of action for treating it.
